Earlier this month we wrote about Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Mcrobin’s “silky smooth” new single ‘In’, which we described as ‘shimmering and radiating’ and “marked by deftly plucked acoustic guitar and tasteful layers of synth.” Today he’s premiering his follow up track ‘Vinegar’ and it’s equally as stunning.

The alternative folk singer, whose real name is James McGuffie is gearing up to release his new EP in the coming months, and ‘Vinegar’ is just a taste of what to expect from the talented Myrtleford export.

Mcrobin explains the story of this track came from a dream “about an orphaned adolescent and a new found motherly figure. The story of their relationship developed on paper as the song was being penned. It was a prime example of the unconscious mind taking an idea and running with it.”.

With rolling finger-picked electric guitars and steady driving percussion the song ebbs and flows from sparse verses into soaring Buckley-esque vocals. Check out the track below and if you like what you hear check out Mcrobin’s Facebook page for more info on upcoming shows.
