In a move that sounds like something more befitting a rogue Saudi oil sheikh, Australian architecture firm Elenberg Fraser have received planning approval for a 78-storey skyscraper to be built in Melbourne, inspired by none other than Beyonce.

As NME reports, the so-called ‘Premier Tower’ will be situated on Spencer St, smack-dab in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, housing apartments, hotel rooms, and retail space, and paying homage to Queen Bey and the unique aesthetics of her 2013 ‘Ghost’ video.

As readers can see from the image above, the “complex” design is a marriage of “art and science”, or as a statement from Ellenberg Fraser puts it, “This project is the culmination of our significant research into how to best work with individual site and climatic constraints, brought together using our new parametric modelling techniques.”

We have no ida what that means, but apparently using Sasha Fierce’s music video as a visual reference is not only a good talking point, it’s actually a really efficient way to build a skyscraper.

“The complex form – a vertical cantilever – is actually the most effective way to redistribute the building’s mass, giving the best results in terms of structural dispersion, frequency oscillation and wind requirements,” the statement adds.

“Art and science? You betcha. For those more on the art than science side, we will reveal that the form does pay homage to something more aesthetic – we’re going to trust you’ve seen the music video for Beyoncé’s ‘Ghost’.”

According to industry outlet Dezeen, the curvy and voluptuous architecture pays homage to the “undulating fabric-wrapped bodies of dancers in the singer’s music video for ‘Ghost’.”

We can’t quite get over the fact that this is actually happening and happening in Australia. Like we mentioned previously, this is something you’d expect to happen in Dubai and not the Victorian capital. Bey is truly a queen.
