If there was only one word you could use to describe Kanye West, ‘boastful’ would be a pretty strong contender. The outspoken rapper has made more than a few outlandish claims over the course of his career, but one particular is sticking in everybody’s craw.

Of his many self-declared appointments is that of “The #1 Rock Star On The Planet”, which he’s repeatedly dubbed himself, famously during his much talked-about interview with the BBC’s Zane Lowe back in 2013 – the source of many infamous Kanye-isms.

West reiterated the statement whilst headlining Glastonbury last weekend. As Tone Deaf reported at the time, West shamelessly and without a hint of irony, proclaimed to the crowd gathered before the Pyramid Stage, “You are now watching the greatest living rock star on the planet.”

He repeated the statement several times afterwards, much to the chagrin of the crowd and many watching at home, some of whom were battling the linguistic challenge posed by the BBC’s subtitle people, who themselves struggled with the many expletives riddled throughout West’s set.

One person who was particularly unimpressed was the similarly outspoken Corey Taylor, frontman for Slipknot and Stone Sour, who decided to record a video message just for Kanye. As far as he’s concerned, if you have to say you’re the greatest rock star, you probably aren’t.

Readers can check out Taylor’s message to the hip-hop superstar below, which compares West to that guy in high-school who was always bragging about the amount of women he’d slept with.

However, as Stereogum reports, West looks as though he has bigger fish to fry than Corey Taylor at the moment. A Reddit user claims to have recorded Kanye’s new, unreleased album, SWISH, in its entirety during a recent listening party.

The audio has since been removed from Reddit but is reportedly pretty shoddy anyway. As Stereogum notes, one should “imagine the sound of a pocket dial, yet somehow three football fields away”. Of course, considering West’s experimental streak, how do we know that’s not how it’s supposed to sound?
