Chart-topping Perth outfit Birds of Tokyo appeared on The AFL Footy Show last night and performed a heartfelt and moving rendition of their single ‘Lanterns’, dedicating the performance to late Adelaide Crows coach Phil Walsh.

As ABC News reports, Walsh, who was the head coach of the Adelaide Crows, died from multiple stab wounds after a domestic dispute with his son, Cy, at his home on Friday. Cy Walsh, who also attacked his mother, Meredith, has been charged with murder.

The AFL Footy Show took time out from their show yesterday to pay tribute to the much-loved coach and recently confirmed they would cancel a planned trip to Adelaide next week “out of respect to all people touched by the tragedy”.

Meanwhile, Birds of Tokyo have shared the clip of their performance on the show with the hashtag #‎RIPPhilWalsh‬ and thanked fans for the many kind comments left. “Thanks guys it was an honour to play for this moment,” the band wrote. Watch the performance below.

Thank you Birds of Tokyo for this incredible tribute to Phil Walsh.#RIPPhilWalsh #WeFlyAsOne #AFLFootyShow
