One of the Australian music’s most prolific leading men has returned once again and once again with a new group of musicians in tow. Tex Perkins’ latest venture puts his iconic, whiskey-soaked, Aussie drawl among the sublime musicianship of the resurrected Dark Horses, and neither has sounded better.

The ominously titled Tunnel At The End Of The Light is nine songs of understated, considered instrumentation played by musicians at the peak of their powers. The sonics of the album bubble like a cauldron, almost as though these songs were already out in the aether, just looking for the right voice to bring them home.

Perkins provides the perfect contrast to the spacious rhythms, sweetly strummed guitars, brooding bass lines, and lush backing harmonies of the Dark Horses. His unforgettable voice injects each track with grit and attitude. It’s sure to go down as one of the most talked-about Aussie albums of 2015.
