There’s feverish news reports coming out Byron Bay in the wake of Catfish & The Bottlemen pulling out of their Australian tour, including a scheduled appearance at Splendour In The Grass, which is set to kick off this weekend.

The UK band took to Facebook to announce they have cancelled their entire Australia and Japan tour, including appearances at Splendour, two Australian sideshows, and a slot a Fuji Rock Festival.

“It is with huge regret that, due illness in the band and crew, Catfish and the Bottlemen will not be playing their planned shows this week in Australia and Japan; including Splendour in the Grass and Fuji Rocks festivals,” they wrote.

“The band are obviously absolutely devastated not to be making the trip and hope fans will understand. For the band’s headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, please contact your point of purchase for refund details.”

Catfish & The Bottlemen were slated to play early in the afternoon on Friday on the Amphitheatre stage, in between sets from Marmozets and locals San Cisco.

However, according to Triple J, organisers have now confirmed that dynamic Brisbane rock duo DZ Deathrays have joined the Splendour In The Grass lineup as Catfish’s replacement. The band have previously played the event and will be taking over Catfish’s slot.
