The creative team behind Melbourne’s iconic Shadow Electric have announced an exciting new music and video collaboration series set to kick off this August. ‘Visions’ will feature some of Australia’s best loved local acts, pairing them with spectacular, unique visuals.

Taking advantage of Shadow Electric’s 34-metre square cinema screen, which will be relocated to Brunswick and erected in the historic Estonian House (Formally the Marco Polo, and Western Cinemas), this will be an innovative series of audio-visual experiences.

Over the past four years, Shadow Electric have produced and programmed over 300 cinema screenings along with 200 band room shows, in addition to combining the two for incredible atmospheric outdoor performances from Kurt Vile, Mac DeMarco, Courtney Barnett, and more.

From the Friday, 28th August through till Sunday, 30th August, Shadow Electric’s producers Jay Rayner and David Chestwig will bring Estonian House to life by reimagining the old theatre with commissioned works from Teeth and Tongue, The Bombay Royale, Rat and Co, and more.

“Programming and producing both cinema and music events for many years now, it is really satisfying to find an avenue where we can combine the two streams,” said Jay.

“The project affords us the opportunity to program some of our favourite musical artists, and to work closely with them in produce a tangible, unique and memorable outcome.”

“The project is providing an exciting challenge for our small but experienced team. Reinvigorating and in some ways reimagining the use of this special old theatre is a very exciting prospect for all involved.”

In addition to giving the bands and visual artists a new avenue for creativity, more than anything this will be a one-of-a-kind experience for the fans, who will get to see the historic cinema house reinvigorated, as well as some awesome performances.
