Melbourne’s progressive instrumental post rockers Mushroom Giant are today premiering their brand new video for their epic new single ‘Majestic Blackness’. Filmed and edited by David Smith, the video is a dark and eerie affair filled with horror motifs and disorienting strobes.

Band members David Charlton (guitar), Craig Fryers (bass), Trent Horwood (drums) and Simon Wade (keys/guitar) have been writing and performing together since 2002 and share a passion for instrumental music. David and Craig met at university (both studied graphic design). Craig later met Trent while performing stage musicals as semi-professional musicians. In 2002, they by chance were serendipitously introduced to Simon Wade while on a camping adventure (with acoustic instruments). The band soon found a name that stuck and released its first album Rails in January 2003 (somewhat inspired by surrealist filmmaker, David Lynch).

If you like what you’re seeing and hearing be sure to visit the band’s Facebook page for more info on upcoming shows. They’ll be launching their new LP alongside Seims on August 7th at Brighton Up Bar.
