It’s sometimes easy remember just how vital Australia’s music market is. After all, we’re rather out of the way for most of the world, despite the fact that artists love touring here.

That’s perhaps why industry outlet Pollstar‘s annual ticket sales audit proved such a shock earlier this month. But now we have even more proof of just what a major player Australia’s music industry is on the global stage.

Music industry bible Billboard have just voted Frontier Touring the world’s #1 independent concert promoter. The half-yearly result lists Frontier with the overall third highest grossing box score behind only Live Nation and AEG Live.

The result means the Michael Gudinski-owned company is not only in the top spot for all Australasian promoters (the next closest Australasian promoter on the list is Dainty Group at number seven), but one of the most prominent in the world.

As Tone Deaf reported earlier this month, Frontier was ranked #8 in Pollstar‘s Top 100 Promoters. The company has moved 932,426 tickets in the last six months, in addition to scoring the highest amount of nominations in the contemporary music categories at the Helpmann Awards.

2015 has been a massive year for Frontier overall, with its biggest roster of tours on record. Over the past six months they’ve toured some of the biggest names in music, including Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Eagles, Drake, Kylie, Rod Stewart, and more.

“2014 was a huge year for Frontier but 2015 has set the bar even higher. We’ve never been so busy and our team has never worked as hard,” Michael Gudinski said in a statement.

“You’re only as good as the artists you work with and we’re honoured to have such amazing talent choose to tour Australia and New Zealand as part of the Frontier family.”

“It can be tough being an independent promoter in a fiercely competitive and increasingly globalised business but we’re incredibly proud of our ability to have more than held our own without compromising on the style and class we’re famous for.”

“We’re looking forward to blowing everyone out of the water again at the end of the year!” The latter half of 2015 proves to be even bigger for Frontier, as they have already booked tours from Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rise Against, Sam Smith, an Imagine Dragons.
