Paisley flared, curly haired whizzkid Wesley Fuller will be making his live band debut this Friday 7th August. Flirting with garage-pop, glam rock, new wave and freakbeat, Fuller has released a string of instantly catchy singles since launching his solo venture in January.

Now backed by a band featuring some of Melbourne’s most exciting musos including Liam Hopkins (lead guitar), Brendan West (bass) & Brett Wolfenden (drums), Fuller says of his live show that fans can “expect a party”.

To celebrate this upcoming show and Fuller’s refreshing take on glam rock we chatted to the young talent to get to know him and little better and to find out what to expect from his upcoming live show.

The Beginning

“I went to a specialist music school in Perth and was classically trained on the piano and violin. Picked up the guitar and taught myself the drums in my early teens.

I was in a band called Hurricane Fighter Plane for three years before moving to Melbourne in mid-2013. I currently play drums and keys in several local bands.”

The Glam Rock Influence

“I only really got into glam last year when I started DJing around town a fair bit. I realised how fun and catchy the songs are & how great the drums sound.

As a teenager I worshiped The Who, The Beatles and The Beach Boys, to the extent that I’ll probably never shake off their influence. These days I listen to a lot of 70s Funk and Psychedelic Soul but my tastes are always changing.”

What To Expect From His Debut Show

“A great atmosphere. I’ve handed picked two of my favourite local bands Greeves and The Lovely Days to perform.

They’ll be setting the bar pretty high so we’ll have quite lofty expectations to meet. I like to think that our set will be explosive, full of energy, sing along choruses and drum beats you can actually dance to.”

Fave Aussie Bands

“The Cherry Dolls and Sons of Rico reign supreme in Melbourne but there’s some wickedly cool shit coming out of Perth right now.

Hideous Sun Demon, Koi Child and Tired Lion are all brilliant live bands with great songs. Burn Antares are the most attractive band in Australia.”

Plans For The Next 12 Months

“I’ll be recording my debut album throughout the spring for a summer release. In the meantime I’m recording a track ‘That’s The Way It’s Got To Be’ by The Poets for an Active Listener Nuggets compilation.

2016 will probably see me starting playing live a lot more as I’ll be doing a national tour late summer but for now I’m just focusing on releasing good tunes.”
