Wesley Fuller

Why? Paisley flared, curly haired whizzkid Wesley Fuller will be making his live band debut this Friday 7th August. Flirting with garage-pop, glam rock, new wave and freakbeat, Fuller has released a string of instantly catchy singles since launching his solo venture in January. He’s now backed by a band featuring some of Melbourne’s most exciting musos and ready to bring it to the stage – expect a party!

Why? Releasing her future-soul debut Lamentations in 2013 to leading to her first ever slot at Glastonbury and shows with Alicia Keys and John Legend, Ngaiire has left no genre unturned in her search for herself. She’s now bringing her new single ‘Once’ to Sydney. Co-written with Megan Washington and Paul Mac, and produced by Paul Mac and Jack Grace, ‘Once’ is about taking risks that turn into revelations: story of her life. Don’t miss what’s bound to be an incredible show.

Why? Kicking off the weekend in style Melbourne purveyors of the best underground rock, electro, punk and everything in between Psychedelic Coven present a psychotic night of rebel rock at The Curtin. Featuring Melbourne synth/goth/post punk legends NUN as well as Drug Sweat, The Rangoons (Syd) and Teuton all for $10 this is a can’t miss Melbourne event.

When? 8pm, Saturday 8th Aug
Why? Triple J mainstay Hau plays Rosemount Hotel this Saturday with support from his trusty DJ Crystal Diola. Locals Aslan, Natalie Mae, Marksman, Diger Rokwell and Empty w/ Strings wouldn’t miss this for the world – they’re all supporting. To add further spiritedness to the party this event will see part proceeds go to Oxfam for their Oxjam program. Good fun for a good cause.

You Beauty

Why? Local favourites You Beauty follow last year’s Jersey Flegg album with another serious ear-tickler: ‘Illywhacka’, from their upcoming LP of the same name.  The first single from You Beauty ‘s second record continues that upwards melodic thrust over a pumping backline. To celebrate its birth, the guys will be popping by The Milk Factory in Brissy with support from Thigh Master and Good Boy.

Why? Ears Have Ears, FBi Radio’s award-winning soundtrack program brings you a night of electronic, instrumental and experimental music featuring musicians from Sydney and beyond. Headlined by Ju Ca aka the new alias of electronic producer and curator Justin Cantrell (rituals) and Corin aka the exploratory keyboard project of Sydney’s Corin, this is set to be one huge night of aural experimentalism.
