Back in June, Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke confirmed his place on the lineup for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2016, along with the members of his new band project. It boded well for the rest of the lineup and it looks like Laneway fans now have even more reason to celebrate.

Canadian duo Purity Ring have now leaked their place on the Laneway 2016 roster. Currently in the country for Splendour In The Grass, which concluded over the weekend, the pair spoke to Triple J, during which they let slip that they are “hypothetically” on the lineup.

“We’re looking forward to Laneway because we’ve heard that has more of a summer camp feel,” Corin Roddick told Veronica and Lewis. “Lots of people getting to know each other because you’re travelling together over so many days.”

Roddick quickly realised that he’d let the cat of the bag and went into damage control. “That is…” he backtracked, “if we ever play Laneway, we will be very excited about the vibe that it may have. Hypothetically.”

“And maybe a lot of our friends will play, and it’ll be really nice! Hypothetically,” the producer and keyboardist added. Purity Ring’s hypothetical confirmation makes them, hypothetically speaking of course, the second act to leak their place on the lineup.

Speaking to Stoney Roads back in June, Hudson Mohawke told the publication, “I don’t know if it’s been announced yet but we’ll be at Laneway next summer for you guys, we’re bringing the live show,” referring to his new project with an ex-member of Two Door Cinema Club and Redinho.

Laneway are yet to officially announce any acts performing in 2016. However, if it’s anything like their last epic lineup, which featured the likes of Caribou, FKA twigs, Jon Hopkins, St Vincent, Pond and Mac DeMarco, we’re certain organisers will deliver yet again.

Notably, this year’s Laneway event was found to be Australia’s most female-friendly festival, with over half of the headlining acts female, not to mention the majority of Unearthed performers dominated by females, too.
