Back in March, Byron Bay metalcore legends In Hearts Wake dropped a huge secret they’d been sitting on for an entire yearSkydancer, the band’s latest album, is in fact the second part of a two-part project that began with last year’s Earthwalker.

Lifting the CD tray of physical copies of Earthwalker revealed a hidden booklet with a short poem referring to “masculine and feminine worlds” and the lyrics to the band’s single ‘Breakaway’. It wasn’t until a year after the album’s release that fans began unveiling the secret clue.

Well, it turns out Skydancer has its own share of easter eggs hidden inside it and once again, it’s taken months for anyone to notice. Taking to Facebook recently, the band shared the magical secret hidden inside the Skydancer track ‘Cottonmouth’.

“For all you Harry Potter nerds: Yes, Jake speaks Parseltongue in this track.” No doubt the Harry Potter fanatics among the group’s fan base are kicking themselves right about now or perhaps growing to love the band all the more.

If you’re not familiar with the Harry Potter mythology, Parseltongue is the language of serpents and serpent-based creatures such as the Runespoor. Those who are able to speak Parseltongue, such as the titular wizard himself, are known as Parselmouths.

For all you Harry Potter nerds: Yes, Jake speaks Parseltongue in this track. Any idea on the English translation?

After dropping the bombshell on fans, the band asked if anyone had any idea of what the English translation of Jake’s Parseltongue might be. Some of our favourite suggestions include “Eat the booty like groceries”, “Open this fucking pit up”, and “We are a metalcore band”.

As Tone Deaf recently noted, In Hearts Wake are currently enjoying the sights, sounds, and fruits of Europe and by the looks of things, it seems the European heavy music fans are absolutely loving what our boys have to offer.
