We haven’t done a reader survey in a while, but we’re pretty sure most of our readers aren’t in Metallica. There are, after all, only four members of the legendary thrash metal pioneers and the math just doesn’t work out, right?

Regardless, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be in one of the world’s biggest bands, playing to a monster-sized crowd of some 40,000-plus punters who all waited to see you and can barely keep themselves from frothing at the mouth, you might want to check out this video.

Metallica headlined Lollapalooza festival over the weekend and a small group of fans got to witness the show from the back of the festival’s Samsung Galaxy Stage, where Metallica performed. The fans were positioned right behind Lars Ulrich’s drum kit.

They were close enough to actually see the smoke coming out of James Hetfield’s nostrils and get blinded by the glare from Ulrich’s mighty bald spot. Viewers at home, meanwhile, can crank up the volume and pretend it’s them in front of that roaring crowd.
