Passion Pit have been forced to cancel their upcoming Australian tour date due to frontman Michael Angelakos’ ongoing health issues. The band was originally scheduled to play shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane with The Griswolds this month.

As Triple J reports, Frontier Touring have issued a statement from the band’s management confirming the band have pulled out of all three of their Australian dates, along with a string of international shows, after Angelakos was placed under doctors’ orders to continue his rehabilitation.

“Passion Pit has been forced to cancel all international shows, including shows in Singapore, Indonesia, Phiippines, Japan, and Australia.Doctors have now mandated that the next few weeks be used for rest and recuperation. It is with a heavy heart that we make such an announcement…”

“Michael Angelakos is devastated and would like everyone to know that he’s working to get healthy as soon as possible. Last week, Passion Pit cancelled two festival appearances due to Michael being bedridden with “bronchitis/pneumonia.”

“I think we all know how incredibly annoying it is to fall ill, but letting fans down is the worst,” the frontman wrote at the time. “I am so sorry. I’m going to go continue to do my best to rest and recuperate.”

The promoter has stated all ticket-holders will be contacted directly regarding refunds – find more information here. According to Passion Pit’s management, the band has not ruled out announcing replacement shows at some point in the future.

“Passion Pit will work to visit all of the countries involved as soon as possible, and Michael and the team would like to thank all of the promoters and fans for their patience and understanding during this difficult time,” they wrote.

“All we can say is how grateful we are for the opportunity and, in better health, that we greatly look forward to making up these shows and seeing everyone soon.”
