Well, it took them long enough, but Melbourne psych-garage layabouts King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have finally taken the lead out and confirmed they will announce their long-awaited seventh full-length studio effort next week.

Taking to Facebook following an extended hiatus during which the band did scarcely a thing save for unveiling their sixth album, completing their own touring festival, and playing overseas, the band confirmed their next LP will be announced Monday, 17th August.

Since unveiling their debut album, 12 Bar Bruise, back in 2012, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have released a mere five full-length studio albums. That averages out to a pretty dismal two albums per year.

Honestly, we thought Australian bands had a decent sense of hard work and knew how to put in the hard yards, but all King Gizzard seem to be interested in doing is releasing seven albums in the span of three years and booking extensive US tours. What the hell?

Details about the new LP are scant, but the band’s last album, Quarters, which the band released a whole three months ago, was an ambitious concept record comprised of four extended tracks, which the band recorded at Brooklyn’s legendary Daptone Studios.

We will be announcing our seventh album on August 17th, 2015
