We all know and love triple j. After all, it’s Australia’s premier youth broadcaster, delivering the best in homegrown, independent music and reports on youth issues. Most of you probably listen to it every day.

The station was the brainchild of a group of passionate radio pioneers who wanted to create a dedicated network representing local music and the voice of young Australia. On 19th January 1975, they launched what was then known as Double Jay.

Forty years on, Triple J is one of the biggest institutions in Australian music and everybody is familiar with their iconic drum logo. But there’s one or two things that you may not know about our favourite radio station.
