Triple J presenter, producer, dj and all round Aussie music icon Nina Las Vegas is set to warm up clubs during the tail end of this winter with the third instalment of her curated series NLV Presents: International Edition featuring (in alphabetical order): Djemba Djemba (USA) Monki (UK) Mssingno (UK) hosted by Nina herself and headlining cities across Australia this August.

After the success of her sell out string of shows in 2014, NLV’s new global endeavour follows her return from debut appearances in London and Scotland alongside friends from UK’s taste-making label Lucky Me!

Featuring the globe-trotting sounds of London’s darkest nightclubs to Los Angeles’ summer beach parties this NLV Presents: International Edition tour is definitely going to be one of the best parties of 2015.

Before we get international we asked Nina to go super local and tell us about why she thinks we should be super amped about what our talented electronic artists are doing here in Australia.

Community

“The community is supporting each other. Locals are selling more tickets than internationals and that is building confidence amongst young producers and performances. If Flume and Alison Wonderland can do it, you can do it too!”

Our Surroundings

“We embody or surroundings in our sound. Beaches are close, scenery is inspiring – there is plenty around us to influence the scene’s production.”

Cliques

“Cliques are tight. Take a look at Future Classic celebrating 10 years, or Astral People selling tours out across the country… some collectives are banding together and it’s exciting!”

Overseas is Paying Attention

“Because music travels fast. It no longer matters how far away we physically are to musical hubs like London and Los Angeles, if it’s good it gets heard.”

Station Support

“We’re surrounded by good people wanting more. Stations like triple j and FBi don’t exist in other countries and it’s been supporting the electronic music scene since day one. Kids in Tumut can hear the latest Swick record, you know?”

Flume

“Flume’s second album. Harley Streten inspired a new generation of music makers, and where he goes next will continue to expand young music makers’ minds.”
