After six years as one of Melbourne’s finest live rock bands, local favourites Loon Lake have announced they will be calling it a day after embarking on a national farewell tour, with dates set for venues around the country.
In a statement posted to their social media channels, the band thanked fans for their continued support and stressed that they are not “breaking up” over inner turmoil between bandmates, but simply putting a full stop on the band’s journey.
“There is no fall out, no drama here, It’s just over and it was fun while it lasted,” they write. “We are very, very proud of what we have achieved over the last 6 years, to be honest, we never really set out to achieve anything except have a bit of fun, but even in our wildest dreams, we couldn’t imagine it would be this fun.”
“Loon Lake isn’t breaking up, we are just winding up. We are all still best mates and that wont change. Our reasons are simply that we feel like we may have run our course, we probably won’t ever be much more than we are and with everyone doing different things, living in different places, it’s pretty hard to keep it going.”
The band have recently been hard at work recording and producing an album, which they promise will be their strongest collection of tracks in years. The second single from these sessions, ‘Just Now’, can currently be heard pumping through triple j airwaves.
As an added bonus and a way of saying thanks to their ever-supportive fan base, those who pre-buy tickets to the band’s farewell tour will receive a sneaky download of Loon Lake’s new album when it drops in late September.
