Making its debut this Saturday the 29th August is Volumes Festival, a Sydney live music concept set in the cultural heart of the city and taking over a number of iconic venues: The Oxford Art Factory, The Cliff Dive and Brighton Up Bar. A collaborative effort between some of this country’s most innovative and interesting labels, bands and venues Volumes promises to be an incredible exciting and cohesive and holistic live music concept.
Featuring an impressive local line up including Brissy legends Blank Realm, the incredible Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders, The Laurels, and Tone Deaf favourites Lower Spectrum and friendships among so many others Volumes promises to be a must-not miss event for Sydney music lovers of any genre.
To celebrate the event Melbourne duo friendships have put together an hour long mix of unfinished, unreleased and other miscellaneous gems which you check out below.
The mix unintentionally epitomises the Volumes ethos, as organiser James Spink tells us “one thing I was really stoked on and found interesting that happened completely organically with this mix but that was a big part of the whole motivation behind and the concept and process of booking/organising Volumes was the slight link ups and collaborations of the artists. – (The mix has the Kirin J remix linking up with Siberia and also with Kirin playing the festival in Jack Ladder and then also has Null on there linking back to him playing and the Siberia late night takeover of Volumes.)
The whole idea of the event and plan for the future is about the collaboration of artists, labels, mates etc and having everyone be a part of the experience as deep as possible and creating a platform for everyone to share and push things further. I think the link ups of the acts/labels across the event is a really great display of how so many local artists work together and why Australia has such a great amount of amazing live acts coming out right now and killing it! ”
