Having remixed the likes of Kucka and GRMM, Mazde once again flexes his collaborative muscles, teaming up with German vocalist LissA to release his most dynamic work yet,

Having been trained in both classical and jazz composition from the age of six, Mazde continues to forge his learnt skills for creating songs and remixes at the forefront of what’s innovative in electronic music worldwide.

To celebrate the release of the new EP, Mazde has given us a track by tack run down of the record, check it out below and if you like what you hear be sure to visit his Facebook page for more info.

Intro

“Every time I go back home to visit my parents‘ house, my childhood piano inspires me a lot. For this EP, I wrote every Song on it.

The Process of creating each track was quite similar. I normally started with a chord progression. Then LissA and I would meet up and she’d work on the Melody and lyrics of the song.

After many hours recording and fine tuning, we usually have the first draft of the whole song down. The next day I then go into editing and mixing with fresh ears as I tend to get caught up in a track when I work on it for too long.”

Pitch Black

“I wanted to take a different approach to my production, without drifting too far from my previous style. Pitch Black was the first song LissA and I made together. She has introduced new layers to my Instrumentals that really drive all tracks to what they are!

Pitch Black represent my aim to evolve my productions even further and not be pigeonholed to one style.”

Battas

“With ‘Battas’, I wanted to keep things quite simple as I believe, less is often more. We originally had it so that LissA would open up the song with her vocals but in the end agreed that a short intro would build more of an atmosphere. The chorus is kept almost solely instrumental because it created more of an impact and reflects more on the music I’ve made in the past.”

Dig Deep

“Dig Deep starts off with some recordings on my childhood piano. After constructing a build up with LissA‘ s vocals and a few elements I’d taken from hip hop, the song drops into those brasses, which gives it quite the cinematic feeling. I originally had a rather trance-y sound in there, but ultimately decided to make it more orchestral! I hope you enjoy!”
