Those who were lucky enough to experience Future Classic’s 10th anniversary concert at the Sydney Opera House would’ve walked away with lifelong memories of one of the most raved-about performances of the year.

The sold-out show was the first on the Opera House’s harbourside Northern Broadwalk and was one of the hottest tickets of the most recent Vivid LIVE series, with appearances from Flight Facilities, Flume, and more.

All Future Classic fans can now experience the concert as never before thanks to immersive virtual reality available through YouTube’s new 360° video service via Google Chrome, or on Samsung and Android devices with the latest YouTube app.

To achieve this stunning effect, more than 20 remote-controlled cameras shot from three vantage points to capture a 360° x 180° immersive view. The Ultra High Definition (UHD) 3840×1920 pixel output has now been edited together into equi-rectangular 360° videos.

“The FCX outdoor moments celebrating 10 years of the mighty Future Classic label were a big deal for Vivid LIVE and the Opera House. We wanted to find a way to capture them and recent developments in virtual reality made that possible,” said Ben Marshall, Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music.

Readers can check below for a behind-the-scenes video on how the 360° clips were captured and relive Flight Facilities performing ‘Heart Attack’ with Melbourne’s Owl Eyes and Julian Hamilton of The Presets in stunning 360°.
