While it’s easier than ever these days to find and get music, it seems like every day it becomes more and more difficult to just get the things you actually want to hear.

With tons of albums getting released each month, sometimes it’s hard to keep track of the releases you definitely want to get your hands on and you find yourself just giving up.

In the interest of promoting great music, we’ve decided to give our readers a forecast of the best and most promising releases coming out this month.

Lana Del Rey – Honeymoon

Label: Universal

Following on from 2014s Ultraviolence, comes Lana Del Rey’s third major label release, Honeymoon. Recorded between Los Angeles and New York, with writing/production collaboration by Grammy-winning Rick Nowels, promotion for the album began with a teaser video for the title track, as well as single ‘Terrence Loves You’ which was made available by calling Del Rey’s Honeymoon Hotline, the number shown on the album cover of Honeymoon.

Del Rey’s major debut release Born To Die was met with widespread acclaim, launching itself to #1 on the ARIA charts, as well as spawning six stand-out singles, including the widely popular ‘Video Games’, which was hailed by many as the best song of 2011.

Disclosure – Caracal

Label: Universal

Still riding the success of their 2013 debut album Settle, the Reigate duo have announced their follow up album Caracal, home to yet another slab of electronic house tracks, with the spacey, dance beat of lead-single ‘Holding On’ featuring guest vocals from Gregory Porter.

Having made the announcement via a billboard in Las Vegas, it’s safe to say the Lawrence siblings have really stepped up their game with their sophomore release, improving on all fronts in terms of their production, as well as extending their list of collaborations, as Caracal will also feature the likes of Nao, The Weeknd, Lorde and Kwabs.

Travi$ Scott – Rodeo

Joining The Weeknd on his Beauty Behind The Madness tour, as well as being invited on stage by Kanye West to perform ‘Upper Echelon’ during Drake’s OVO Fest in Toronto has no doubt cemented Travis Scott as part of the ever expanding contemporary hip hop and rnb movement.

With the announcement of his full-length major label debut release, Rodeo, Scott has since become a trending topic on social media, with buzz from his energetic live performances preceding his own reputation and launching him further into the spotlight. Featuring an undeniable army of guest musicians, including Justin Bieber, Kanye West and 2 Chainz, Rodeo is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated hip-hop debuts in a long time.

Bring Me The Horizon – That’s The Spirit

Coming leaps and bounds from their metalcore roots, Bring Me The Horizon have had a steady career of musical progression and evolution. With 2013s Sempiternal placing at #1 on the ARIA charts, their second consecutive album to do so, it’s safe to say that the boys from Sheffield have some of the most fiercely loyal fans on the planet.

Following the success of the singles, ‘Throne’ and ‘True Friends’, it’s evident that Bring Me The Horizon have placed more emphasis on melody and accessibility with That’s The Spirit housing a slew of arena-rock anthems that’s sure to catapult them into the next leg of their career.

Parkway Drive – Ire

Australia’s favourite metalcore titans have returned with their fifth full-length album; Ire, with the music video for lead single ‘Vice Grip’ having garnered widespread acclaim, as it depicts the boys from Byron performing in front of an aircraft, before riding it into the air and subsequently skydiving out of it.

No strangers to giving it one-hundred percent, Parkway Drive succeed in crafting songs geared more towards their tight live performance, as Ire sounds absolutely massive and is sure to satisfy veteran Parkway fans as well as newcomers alike.

Meat Wave – Delusion Moon

The brevity and hard-hitting nature is what makes the eponymous single of ‘Delusion Moon’ so special. Packing unrivalled energy in just under 2 minutes, alongside the vivid and intensely colourful music video, Chicago’s Meat Wave are dead set on disorienting their fans and unearthing some hidden trauma from within.

Working as one individual piece of music, Delusion Moon focuses on the lunar cycles, and how they apply to our modern life. This, together, with their abnormal, anxiety-ridden aesthetic is sure to make even the most stoic person feel uneasy, making their debut LP one of the most anticipated records of the year.

Glen Hansard – Didn’t He Ramble

Following on from 2012s Rhythm and Repose, Glen Hansard has announced his long-awaited follow up in the form of Didn’t He Ramble, which demonstrates the Irish singer-songwriter at his most open and exposed. As well as being a primary songwriter in Irish group The Frames, Hansard is also one half of folk rock duo The Swell Season, with Czech songstress Markéta Irglová.

Produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sufjan Stevens), a frequent collaborator of Hansard’s, and Grammy winner and former Frames band-mate David Odlum (Paloma Faith, Tinariwen) and filled with touching and downbeat folk numbers, Didn’t He Ramble is a moody and earnest album, that’s sure to coincide nicely with the start of spring.

The Dead Weather – Dodge And Burn

Five years is a long time to wait for any form of new music, as Jack White’s gothic rock quartet has toiled away in secret on songs for their upcoming third album Dodge and Burn. Featuring The Kills’ frontwoman Alison Mosshart, Queens of the Stone Age’s Dean Ferita, and The Raconteurs’ Jack Lawrence, the rock supergroup are once again making waves as Dodge and Burn is shaping up to be much darker and heavier than any of the group’s previous work.

“There’s not a lot of thought put into the writing of the music, it’s really just a human, organic explosion. Everyone starts playing at the same time and we start writing lyrics at the same time—just making stuff up and singing” quotes Mosshart on the familiar writing process. Between each member’s musical projects, there are currently no plans to tour, so the fact that they managed to squeeze out 12 new tracks at all should confirm how serious they are.

FIDLAR – Too

LA punks FIDLAR have announced the follow up to their much loved self-titled debut LP, it’s titled Too it’s out September 4th and it’s set to be an absolute corker. Produced by Jay Joyce (The Wallflowers, Emmylou Harris, Cage the Elephant, Iggy Pop), Too was recorded in Nashville over the span of just two weeks.

The 12 track collection of garage rock gems sees the band expand on their 2013 self-titled album exploring how to entwine pop-infused garage rock into the modern punk sound they’re admired for. On Too the band decided to focus on producing a more introspective and revelatory approach to songwriting as well as bringing an outsider producer into the fold for the very first time.

Gary Clark Jr – The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim

Even after a sold out European tour as well as completing Lollapalooza 2015 and September and October dates with the Foo Fighters, Gary Clark Jr shows no signs of slowing down, with the release of his sophomore record as well as performance dates for Falls Festival, performing the regional Australian circuit.

Finding his muse through a combination of blues, country and even hip hop influence, Clark has come into his own on The Story Of Sonny Boy Slim, and following on from the success of his 2012 debut Blak and Blu, shows him further tracing back his roots as well as the musical genres that have inspired him as a musician.

Silversun Pickups – Better Nature

Good news indie fans, alt rock darlings Silversun Pickups their much-anticipated fourth studio album. Titled Better Nature the album will be released September 25 via the band’s own New Machine Recordings.
For this their first album in more than three years, Better Nature sees the band bring tougher their dream team enlisting producer Jacknife Lee (U2, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles), with whom they so successfully collaborated on 2012’s visionary Neck Of The Woods. Silversun Pickups guitarist/ vocalist Brian Aubert has been quoted as calling Better Nature “its own quantum universe” – so you’d bette pay attention.
