The Bank of Melbourne have today announced the 12 finalists of this year’s Melbourne Music Bank, inviting the public to cast their votes for their favourite finalist.

The four with the most votes will receive the opportunity to perform at Melbourne’s Arts Centre on 8th October, with the winner judged by a panel of industry experts.

This year’s campaign kicked off back in July, with a call sent out to Victorian musicians to submit an original song for a chance at the top prize – a toolkit for success, including two days of recording at Melbourne’s famous Sing Sing Studios, a music video by Oh Yeah Wow, and more.

This year’s prize also includes the services of a dedicated A-team of the industry’s finest, including management and mentoring by Chris Robinson, publicity by On The Map PR, radio plugging by Varrasso PR, and gig bookings by 123 Agency.

Organisers write that they were particularly impressed with this year’s crop of artists, who span a diver array of genres, including indie, folk, pop, hip-hop, alt-rock, and electro. The 12 finalists are:

Anna Cordell from Ivanhoe
Arctic Maps from Preston
DL Music from Narre Warren
Feelds from Alphington
Imogen Brough from Geelong
Jade Alice from Viewbank
Kudzai from Narre Warren
Milo from Breamlea
Napier from Essendon
Playwrite from Northcote
Sam O’Connell from Mt Martha
Sarah May from Bonnie Doon

“We were thrilled to receive triple the number of submissions this year, which confirms to us the incredible amount of talent out there. This further spurs our excitement and makes us proud to continue to support the music makers of Victoria,” said Jac Phillips, Bank of Melbourne’s Head of Brand & Marketing.

Public voting is open from today until 27th September and voters can share in a range of weekly prizes, including Spotify vouchers and ticket giveaways. To learn more about the finalists, check out their music, and cast a vote, visit the Melbourne Music Bank website.
