Earlier this morning, Violent Soho were announced as one of the many great acts on the lineup for Laneway 2016 and the Mansfield outfit have now paired the news by taking to Facebook to tease fans with a potential release date for their new album.

The band have switched up the cover image on their official Facebook page to a striking black and white image of a flaming boom box. In addition to urging fans to join their mailing list, the image includes the date 8th October, which suggests we can expect new Soho music next month.

While it’s not clear whether the band will be dropping a follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed Hungry Ghost, which yielded the breakthrough track ‘Covered In Chrome’, or just a new single, the boys have certainly been busy in the studio.

The band have been keeping fans updated on their activities at Brisbane studio The Shed via their social media channels, posting photos of themselves recording and packing bongs as they work on their fourth album with producer Bryce Moorhead.

Back in August, the band took to Twitter to ask fans to suggest potential titles for the new record. “We start recording our new album today. Pretty fucking pumped!” they wrote. “If you have any album name suggestions send them on through. We were thinking Frogstomp but Silverchair already did it.”

The band was immediately inundated with suggestions for album titles that ranged from the ridiculous to the sublime, including “butt pickle”, “Hungrier Ghost”, “Brendan”, “Cosmic Greg”, “The Best of Neil Diamond”, and our personal favourite, “Siolent Voho”.

Speaking to FasterLouder in July last year, frontman Luke Boerdam revealed that writing for the new record was already underway. “I don’t think you have to change your sound every record and be fucking Radiohead going from OK Computer to Kid A or anything like that,” he said of the band’s direction.
