Earlier this week, Canberra dance duo Peking Duk unveiled their twisted but hilarious music video for their latest single, the massive ‘Say My Name’, which features US actor Matt McGorry, who stars on Orange Is The New Black and How To Get Away With Murder.

“We first came up with this idea for the clip after our set at Coachella. The casting was without a doubt the biggest obstacle in our heads when brainstorming. Then Matt McGorry came up,” said Adam Hyde of the Anthony Chirco-directed video.

“We weren’t aware of how brilliant this man was on the dancing front, yet we were excited to proceed and see what would happen. All our hopes and expectations were ABSOLUTELY blown out of the park. Matt was hands down the BEST man for the job…”

The clip originally went live on Vevo and was reported on by numerous Australian music and entertainment outlets, but it was when the clip became available on YouTube yesterday that it went full on viral, thanks to a couple of celebrity endorsements.

The video, which features McGorry doing some rather unsettling dance moves whilst donning an awful mullet, porno ‘stache, and cowboy boots and cutoffs combination, got the nod of approval from chart-scaling pop princess Ariana Grande and actress Alexandra Daddario.

Grande’s tweet alone has received almost 6,000 retweets and has been favourited more than 11,000 times, not entirely surprising considering the ‘Problem’ hit-maker has 32.6 million followers on her Twitter account.

The result? The ‘Say My Name’ video is being shared around at a manic pace on Twitter and has managed to rack up almost 80,000 views in just 24 hours on YouTube – not bad for a couple of blokes from Canberra (three if you count SAFIA’s Benjamin Joseph).

The impact of Grande’s tweet is clear, with one YouTube user commenting, “Who else did Ariana bring here?” And it looks like the yanks are loving what our boys are putting down: “Matt is just hillarious and the song is actually quite cool,” one user wrote.

No doubt the virality of the clip and the celebrity endorsements will do a lot for Peking Duk’s profile Stateside and give the track a nice push. As we’ve previously noted, Aussies have been on sort of a hot streak overseas lately.
