If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know the AFL has been copping some serious flack for the lack of Australian acts on their Grand Final pre-game entertainment lineup, but it now looks as though they’re trying to make things right.

The AFL have teamed up with Foxtel for the Foxtel Footy Festival, which will see four days of all-homegrown acts taking to the stage in the lead-up to the Grand Final, including the likes of Kingswood, Pierce Brothers, and more.

Things are set to kick off with a launch party on Wednesday, 30th September, which will see hard-working local rockers Kingswood performing alongside the always stellar Pierce Brothers and a DJ set from Melbourne favourite Nussy.

This will be followed up with a three-hour session of Party MAX tunes on the big screen on Thursday, 1st October, before a performance from The Antipodean Rock & Roll Collective, featuring members of Spiderbait, Jet, Powderfinger, and You Am I.

Finally, the Friday festivities will see a performance from the one and only DJ Generik, who’s fresh from supporting EDM superstar Calvin Harris in Las Vegas. Of course, the Saturday will then see the AFL’s disappointing all-expat lineup take the stage.

The whole shebang is set to take place in Yarra Park outside Gate 3 at the MCG and did we mention that the whole thing is absolutely free? Readers can check below for all the dates and ticketing details or head to the Foxtel Footy Festival website.
