WOMADelaide is set to transform Adelaide’s Botanic Park over three days next March. They’ve now announced over 20 artists and speakers for their 20th instalment, including Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Angélique Kidjo and Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki.
Kidjo will appear as part of WOMADelaide 2016’s immense musical program, which also feature performances from The Cat Empire, Violent Femmes, Marlon Williams, Songhoy Blues, 47SOUL, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Edmar Castañeda Trio, Orange Blossom, and many more.
Meanwhile, David Suzuki, a living legend in the science and environmental world and the recipient of dozens of prestigious international awards, will appear as part of a special Planet Talks program presented by The University of South Australia.
“Hosting Angélique Kidjo and David Suzuki at WOMADelaide in the space of a few days, perfectly encapsulates the breadth of the program in connecting audiences with such wonderfully engaging cultural and social innovators in their fields,” said WOMADelaide Director Ian Scobie.
