While it’s easier than ever these days to find and get music, it seems like every day it becomes more and more difficult to just get the things you actually want to hear.

With tons of albums getting released each month, sometimes it’s hard to keep track of the releases you definitely want to get your hands on and you find yourself just giving up.

In the interest of promoting great music, we’ve decided to give our readers a forecast of the best and most promising releases coming out this month.

Falls – Omaha

Label: Universal
Release Date: 2nd October

After two tough years of honing their songs and live chops during a residency at inner city Sydney haunt the Hotel Hollywood, Falls caught the ear of triple j, hitting the airwaves with their debut single ‘Home’. After some touring with The Lumineers, Passenger, Of Monsters & Men, and more, they’re finally ready to unveil their debut.

Boy & Bear – Limit of Love

Label: Universal
Release Date: 9th October

ARIA-award winning Sydney five-piece Boy & Bear are set to return with Limit of Love, their eagerly anticipated third studio effort, and the follow-up to 2013’s highly acclaimed and much cherished Harlequin Dream, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart and saw the band ascend to previously untouched heights.

City & Colour – If I Should Go Before You

Label: Dine Alone Records
Release Date: 9th October

There’s a line that I’m trying to find, between the water and the open sky“, sings City and Colour main man Dallas Green on ‘Friends’, the penultimate track off of his fifth release as City and Colour. Indeed, the album itself is an experimental testament to searching and one that is sure to warrant many repeat listens.

Deafheaven – New Bermuda

Label: Epitaph
Release Date: 2nd October

San Francisco’s Deafheaven saw universal acclaim come their way with their 2013 album Sunbather, which became an unexpected crossover hit. With the weight of the world on their shoulders, Deafheaven have returned with another tome that’s equal parts Weakling and My Bloody Valentine.

Palms – Crazy Rack

Label: Ivy League Records
Release Date: 30th October

Recording again with their buddy Owen Penglis (Royal Headache, Straight Arrows, The Grates), thrash pop four-piece Palms are back with another collection of impossibly catchy yet raw and primordial rock and roll.

State Champs – Around the World and Back

Label: Sony Music
Release Date: 16th October

Albany, New York pop punks State Champs have had a busy 2015, most recently touring Australia supporting 5 Seconds of Summer and supporting All Time Low in the US. The tours herald the release of the band’s sophomore LP, which was engineered by Kyle Black (Paramore, New Found Glory, Strung Out) and produced by Black and State Champs vocalist Derek Discanio.

My Disco – Severe

Label: Temporary Residence
Release Date: 30th October

Severe is My Disco’s first full-length record in nearly five years. More than just a title, Severe pushes My Disco’s subtle and intensely focused minimalist sound to its most terrifying extreme. Bleak and occasionally uncomfortable, this will be one of the most challenging releases of the year.

Wavves – V

Label: Inertia
Release Date: 2nd October

Wavves have been absent from Australian shores since their appearance at Splendour In The Grass 2013 and a run of co-headline sideshows with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but that’s because they’ve been busy concocting another collection of brilliant, addictive guitar riffs and cheeky lyrics.

The Neighbourhood – Wiped Out!

Label: Sony Music
Release Date: 30th October

Acclaimed Los Angeles outfit The Neighbourhood are back and better than ever with their eagerly anticipated sophomore release, which includes the lead single ‘R.I.P. 2 My Youth’. It’s the latest from the band that’s been praised for their “moody, atmospheric rock tracks”.

Art vs Science – Off the Edge of the Earth and Into Forever, Forever

Label: Magellanic/MGM
Release Date: 9th October

“It’s about it being bigger than yourself,” says Art vs Science’s Jim Finn of their epic new album, Off The Edge Of The Earth And Into Forever, Forever. “About appreciating the insignificance of life, and so appreciating life more – stepping away from the mundanity of everyday existence and looking at the bigger picture.”
