Another week, another whacked out project courtesy of Mac DeMarco and we’ve gotta say, this one is more whacked out than most. The singer-songwriter is about to make his acting debut in the very off-kilter B-movie Dark Prism.
According to a statement from DeMarco’s reps, via Consequence of Sound, DeMarco became involved in Dark Prism after he apparently decided to help “a few kids” with their movie project, which looks like all the Troma films smashed together.
“He obliged as they were friends of a friend and that’s the only participation he did in this film,” a statement provided to Pitchfork reads. Still, we reckon DeMarco is the perfect fit for a movie with a giant penis monster.
Oh, there’s also laser guns, the titular dark prism (at least, we think that’s what that floating prism is), a conversation inside someone’s vagina, and lots of exploding vehicles for some reason. It’s a pretty fair effort for an 18-year-old director.
