Milk! Records and Remote Control have partnered up with Jack White’s Third Man Records to announce the latest instalment of the White-produced Blue Series of singles, with Milk! star Courtney Barnett taking on a new original and a cover of an Aussie classic.

“Third Man is privileged to work with Melbourne, Australia’s very own Courtney Barnett, a sharp singer-songwriter-guitarist who has quickly made her mark on garage pop fans worldwide with her witty, self-deprecating, and authentic observations turned into raw, stream-of-consciousness lyrics and blunt melodies,” Third Man write.

“The wry-and-dry songstress stopped by Third Man Studios in Nashville over a long weekend this summer to record a couple tracks and damn did she ever deliver.” The A-side of the release is titled ‘Boxing Day Blues Revisited’.

The track serves as an epilogue to ‘Boxing Day Blues’, the closing track of Barnett’s acclaimed full-length debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit. Meanwhile, the B-side sees Barnett tackling one of the most iconic songs in the Aussie rock canon.

Barnett and her band have produced a beautifully rendered cover of ‘Shivers’, the Rowland S Howard-penned ballad from the legendary guitarist’s days in The Boys Next Door. You can get it as a limited edition 7″ vinyl on Friday, 16th October or hear it now below.
