There’s just seven weeks to go until the biggest night in Australian music and the full list of nominations for the 2015 ARIA Awards have now been announced, with the winners set to be announced at The Star, Sydney on Thursday, 26th November.

A string of winners were announced during the official ARIA Awards Nominations Event earlier today, with Courtney Barnett picking up the award for Best Cover Art and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker nabbing two for Producer Of The Year and Engineer Of The Year.

Despite a rough few years, this year’s nominations actually bode very well for the future of Australian music, featuring a selection of very reputable and credible acts, including Courtney Barnett, Tame Impala, Flight Facilities, and Gang of Youths all scoring noms in top categories.

Leading the tally is Courtney Barnett, who’s picked up an incredible eight nominations (in addition to her one win), including Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album, Breakthrough Artist, Best Australian Live Act, and Best Video.

She’s followed by Hermitude and Vance Joy, who’ve each scored seven nominations. Among the list of noms, the electronic duo are nominated for Album Of The Year, Best Group, Best Independent Release, while Vance Joy has earned noms for Album Of The Year and Best Male Artist.

Having previously won Best Rock Album and Album Of The Year, Tame Impala have managed to earn themselves six nominations this year, including Album Of The Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Pop Release for their single ‘Let It Happen’.

This year’s ARIA’s have certainly put the spotlight on Australia’s independent music scene, with Gang Of Youths scoring a total of five nominations, including for Best Rock Album, and Jarryd James nabbing noms in the categories of Best Male Artist and Breakthrough Artist among his five.

Looking through the categories, the Best Dance Release reads like a who’s who of Aussie dance music in 2015, with noms going to Alison Wonderland, Flight Facilities, Hayden James, Peking Duk, and Rüfüs.

Meanwhile, Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album is likewise highlighting the cream of the crop in homegrown heavy music, acknowledging the hard yards put in by Born Lion, In Hearts Wake, King Parrot, Northlane, and Thy Art Is Murder.
