Jack White is a busy man. Between his solo projects, affiliations with different bands, touring commitments, production work, and various other extracurricular activities, it’s little wonder he’s been a no-show for his local neighbourhood potluck.

However, as Consequence of Sound reports, the prolific muso and Nashville resident was finally home when his neighbours were doing their traditional potluck and he decided to pop down and enjoy the revelry. Naturally, no one there recognised him.

Writer Jedediah Jenkins, whose mother is one of the rocker’s neighbours and helps put on the potluck, took to Instagram to share a photo of White smiling with his neighbours and recounted the funny backstory behind the “incredible” photo.

“This picture is incredible. My sister texted it to me. Listen to this,” Jenkins opens. “My mom helps put on a neighborhood potluck in front of my childhood home. Our little dead-end street is populated primarily with older and quiet people.”

“The houses are modest and suburban. My neighborhood has been doing this potluck for over a decade. At the bottom of our street, there is a large gated historic home shrouded in trees. We’ve never really spotted that neighbor. But we have from time to time heard guitar coming from the garage.”

“This year, without warning, the occupant decided to come mingle with the neighbors. Of course many of them had no idea who he was. ‘Jack White? nice to meet you.’ He apologized for traveling so much and missing out over the years.”

It’s not clear just what White brought along for his neighbours to enjoy at the potluck, but many suspect he may have brought his world-famous guacamole, the recipe for which, you may remember, leaked online back in February, and White was not happy about it.
