After teasing fans with a cryptic advertising campaign for months, Violent Soho have finally unveiled ‘Like Soda’, their blistering new single, which they unveiled via triple j at 4:20pm (go figure) today.

To celebrate the release of the track, which recalls all the hallmarks of ’90s alt-rock and punk, Mansfield’s favourite sons are gearing up to hit the road for a very quick and very sweaty run of East Coast dates.

Since unleashing their third album, Hungry Ghost, on the world back in 2013, Violent Soho have become one of Australia’s most in-demand bands, selling out shows around the country and playing to massive festival crowds.

‘Like Soda’ opens with what frontman Luke Boerdam calls imagery of “those empty summer afternoons in a RSL and pubs – when all the pokies are empty, beer is warm and there’s nothing but horse-race noise in the background” before a raucous guitar firefight is unleashed.

“There’s no resolution in the song – its just describing a daze we’re all in,” Boerdam says. Check out the new single and all of the band’s forthcoming East Coast tour dates below.
