American psychedelic veterans The Flaming Lips have just been announced as the first act set to delight punters heading to Hobart’s famous Museum of Old and New Art this January for the latest instalment of MONA FOMA.

MOFO 2016 will take place from Wednesday, 13th January till Monday, 18th January, with the full lineup set to be announced to coincide with tickets going on sale at 11am AEDT Friday, 16th October.

As always MOFO will be taking over the Museum of Old and New Art this summer, peaking with a hectic weekend inside Mona’s famous “subterranean galleries, cavernous spaces and sprawling, sunny agoras”. It’s an Aussie festival experience unlike any other.

The Flaming Lips boast a career that spans three decades, countless critically acclaimed albums and notable collaborations with the likes of Nick Cave, Yoko Ono, and more. Best of all, they’re just a taste of what’s in store for MOFO 2016.
