If you’re not familiar with the Deniliquin Ute Muster, you’ve been missing out. The annual festival is the largest of its kind in the world and is, for all intents and purposes, the single most Australian event in the world.
For the uninitiated, a ute muster is a quintessentially Australian festival, which brings together ute owners from across this sunburnt land to talk utes, trade stories, compete in competitions, and have themselves a ball.
The Deni Ute Muster is the industry standard for what a ute muster should be, taking things to the next level with a massive music lineup, which this year featured the likes of Cold Chisel, Lee Kernaghan, and Birds of Tokyo.
But this year, the Deni Ute Muster cemented its reputation as the most Straya music festival in the whole wide world by breaking the single most Straya world record we’ve ever heard of and that anyone could possibly dream up.
As Tasmanian Times reports, the stacked lineup, which also featured The McClymonts, Adam Brand, and Wolfe Bros saw crowds of 18,000 ute-loving punters showing up for both days of the 17th Deni Ute Muster, along with 5,988 utes.
It’s a muster that will go down in the history books, literally, because a new world record was set for the largest number of blue singlets on site with 3,959, beating 2013’s record of a mere 3,924. Yep, told ya, Straya.
Meanwhile, the inaugural tradies competition to make the ultimate outdoor dunny saw local firm Poo Shack Constructions pocket the $4,000 prize, further cementing the Deni Uter Muster as the most shamelessly ocker festival ever.
A guy also reportedly took his girlfriend up in a helicopter and told her to look down, where she saw a group of utes parked to spell out ‘Marry Me’. All in all, the 17th Deni Ute Muster was a success and GM Kate Pitt says plans are already in motion for next year.
“We promise our patrons a ‘bucket list’ experience and this year excelled on all fronts,” she said. “The weather was spectacular as was the music and on ground entertainment. We’re already planning our 18th birthday celebrations and look forward to our first announcement in the coming months.”
