Fans were pretty much ready for another Radiohead album the moment the band completed their tour in support of 2011’s The King of Limbs, and the past few months have certainly been promising on the new Radiohead music front.

Drummer Phil Selway recently claimed the band are back in the studio and hope to have something mix-worthy “by fall” and last month composer and Radiohead collaborator Robert Ziegler shared several in-studio photos of the band recording with an orchestra.

However, overnight it seemed as though the dreams of Radiohead fans everywhere had finally come true, with guitarist and songwriter Jonny Greenwood confirming that the band’s new album is complete and they’re already planning a 2016 tour.

As Consequence of Sound reports, a Facebook post by a Russian radio station apparently quoted Greenwood as saying Radiohead are “done recording a new album [and have] start[ed] to build plans for a concert tour in the next year”.

Silver Radio’s post got picked up by numerous international news outlets and naturally, fans responded by collectively losing their shit. There was only one problem: none of it was true. Radiohead’s ninth album is far from complete.

Greenwood took to Twitter to clarify his comments, addressing Consequence of Sound directly, “Nice mistranslation going on. What I actually said: lots has been recorded, and we’re about to go through it all to see if it’s any good. And we HOPE to tour next year: no plans confirmed yet. Sorry for the over enthusiastic translator.”

None of this impressed frontman Thom Yorke, who added, “no IT ain’t finished take responsibility for your writing and check your facts occasionally .. alright Jonny?” So it looks like fans will be waiting a little while longer for that new album.
