With less than 100 days left until Soundwave 2016 is set to kick off, punters are becoming increasingly antsy about that elusive lineup, which is still yet to be announced, despite several false starts.

As Tone Deaf recently reported, after experiencing several delays, reports indicated the full Soundwave 2016 lineup announcement would finally arrive last Thursday, but promoters later claimed that date was never set in stone.

Whilst the festival’s official Twitter account confirmed a 15th October announce date to triple j’s Linda Marigliano, they later deleted the news, with the broadcaster tweeting a correction. No replacement date was provided.

According to festival founder AJ Maddah, the 15th was “not our date but pretty close” and the controversial date may have been ‘leaked’ “just to spite a certain website”. Maddah said simply that the lineup was “days rather than weeks away”.

As we wrote last week, an exact date for the Soundwave 2016 lineup announcement was anybody’s guess, but as FasterLouder reports, it appears we may finally have some indication of when to expect the announcement.

Taking to his hyperactive Twitter account this morning, Maddah tweeted that he was “tired & super stressed about SW16 artwork a week out from announce.”

So it looks like the Soundwave lineup announcement is set to drop Wednesday, 28th October or at the very least, some time next week.

Organisers have drip-fed a small selection of 2016 lineup acts, including Bullet For My Valentine, Dead Letter Circus, Failure, Refused, Northlane, Lordi, Bring Me The Horizon, and Devil You Know.

Having experimented with a two-day format for their last instalment, Soundwave Festival 2016 will see Australia’s premier hard rock and heavy metal event return to the single-day format, hitting up venues in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
