If you’ve checked your Facebook news feed this week, it’s almost certain you’ve seen this week’s Like A Version song choice, though probably not in its original form. More likely you’ve seen one of the countless parodies, remixes, and memes the track has spawned.

We speak, of course, of ‘Hotline Bling’, the latest joint from Canadian rapper Drake. The single’s infamous music video, which features Drake engaging in some very unique dance moves, has redefined what it means to go viral, essentially taking over the internet.

That’s why we’ve got to hand it to the boys in Art Of Sleeping, who decided to cover Drake’s meme-friendly new tune when they stepped into the triple j studios for Like A Version. It’s a pretty clever marketing move and instantly drums up interest in their LAV cover.

We’ve previously noted the level of talent and originality that’s been on display during this year’s triple j Like A Version series, especially from our homegrown local bands and artists like Dorsal Fins, with their cover of Kate Ceberano’s ‘Pash’ and E^st’s recent cover of The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony’.

We’ve also seen some rousing calls-to-arms, an alt-rock mash-up that blew us away, some ambitious takes on mega-tunes by the likes of FKA twigs, Jamie xx, and Fatboy Slim, as well as a raw take on a homegrown anthem.
