Piano and synth pop talent Maples recently dropped her brand new stunning debut LP Two Worlds.

Following on from a string of stunning tracks including ‘I Have Heart’ and ‘Stars’ synth-tinged pop gem co-written by Julian Hamilton (from The Presets), this LP sees Maples unleash her talents for creating stunning alt-pop gems.

Maples utilises pianos and vintage synthesizers, topped with layered vocals, embedded on acoustic percussion and programming to create music that manages to be both epic yet ambient. To celebrate the release of Two Worlds she’s given us a track by track run down of the record which you can check out below.

Be Free (Two Worlds)

The title track paves the essence of Two Worlds’ sonic scope. Commencing with swells of harp loops, programming is blended with floor toms and bass. Layered vocals sway in and out of the mix depicting a dynamic that resonates throughout. A story of two souls, torn apart by opposing forces.

Stars

A co-written track with The Presets’ Julian Hamilton, Stars was the first ever release for MAPLES. An indie-pop, synth driven anthem, Stars stems from a mode of breaking free from musical and emotional suppression to rise from the ashes with fire and drive, fighting for independence.

Ever Longing

This indie-rock, latino inspired track is driven by handclaps, bass, and snare drum alongside hammering pianos. One of the first tracks composed for this release, written in yearning to break free. A track to empower, and inspire musical independence.

Who Am I?

Pulling influences from the East and obsessions with Taiko Drums and DX-7 sounds, Who Am I resonates with MAPLES’ love of orchestral pop. Featuring Bree Van Reyk (Synergy) on Vibraphones/Beijing gongs, the track builds with Prophet synths supporting chorus vocals. A lyrical reflection on vulnerability and self-discovery.

I Have Heart

The second single released from Two Worlds. An indie-pop anthem for those fighting for their dreams and pushing away opposing forces. I Have Heart encapsulates the essence of MAPLES. Ambient, synth driven pop. Pianos and vintage synthesizers, topped with layered vocals, embedded on acoustic percussion and programming.

Lion

Another collaborative effort with Julian Hamilton (The Presets). Opening with pulsating synth bass, and doubled vocals. Widening with glissandos on baby grands and wash cymbals. Lion, is the voice within that motivates to fight in plight towards ones dreams.

Into My Arms

The last track written for Two Worlds and third collaborative effort with the incredible synth master, Jules Hamilton. Written on reflection when finally feeling physically and emotionally separated from a past life. Driven by the groove of bass, snare, acoustic bass drum and embellished with a plethora of synthesizers.

To Feel Your Love

The only song written and arranged around electric guitar on Two Worlds. Broken and vulnerable, To Feel Your Love is a hymn to nurture and protect ones heart. Featuring Tim Constable (Synergy) on Marimbas, drums by Evan Manell, and programming by Casual Psychotic.

Hey Boy

Opening with Tim Constable (Synergy) on marimbas, Hey Boy initially written as a pop track, was re-arranged by Huber to inhabit moodier take on the yearning for companionship. With the focus on vocals and percussion, this track inhabits a darker, orchestral space.

There Is A Light

Composed on the road, whilst touring across Australia in bands, the gospel hymnal was anthemic for Huber to pull herself through dark times. Featuring Bree Van Reyk on Vibraphones, vocal programming and percussion and prophet synths, building into a chorus of ethereal hope.
