Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker has taken to his band’s Instagram account to slam a respected UK music publication after they published a fake essay attributed to the Fremantle musician.

UK-based music blog The Line of Best Fit recently published a piece titled ‘Electric Dreams‘ with words attributed to Parker. The article is presented as an op-ed penned by Parker personally, reflecting on his successful 2015.

The publication have even billed it as such on social media, writing, “Kevin Parker, Tame Impala frontman and Mark Ronson-collaborator, writes exclusively for Best Fit on his triumphant 2015.”

However, Parker has now vehemently disputed this, taking to social media to claim that he never wrote for The Line of Best Fit and that the ‘essay’ was in fact cobbled together from an interview he gave the site.

“This is bullshit,” Parker writes. “I never wrote anything for them. It was a 20 minute phone interview sewn together to look like an essay written by me. Just wanted you to know if you read. Soz for the bad vibes.”

Parker shared the post alongside a screenshot from The Line of Best Fit‘s official Twitter account where the article is again billed as having been written by the frontman.

Founded in 2007, The Line of Best Fit was named Best Digital Publication by Record of the Day in 2012 and Most Influential Music Blog in the UK (and sixth in the world) by Style of Sound in 2009.

The influential music outlet is yet to respond to Parker’s comments, with no statement or retraction yet issued. Parker’s Instagram post, meanwhile, has received a flood of support, accruing more than 8,000 likes in 10 hours.

“Damn. I LOVE that you get on here and call out journalistic bullshit. So sad the state of integrity amongst music publications these days,” one commenter replied.
