Courtney Barnett has made a pretty significant contribution to the Australian rock songbook in a pretty short span of time, but which Australian rock classic does she reckon is the best?
According to the singer herself, “Heavy heart by you am i is the greatest song ever written.” Barnett tweeted as much back in 2014 and she’s occasionally covered the song during live shows.
Barnett and her band recently performed at Austin City Limits and the singer took the opportunity to perform ‘Heavy Heart’ totally solo on an electric guitar (see below).
Barnett has been on something of a roll with cover recently, having recently covered ‘Shivers’ by The Boys Next Door and Archie Roach’s ‘Charcoal Lane’ with some help from Paul Kelly.
