If it’s ever been your dream to have your own Australian print music publication or to simply find a way into the publishing industry, you may want to look into purchasing a famous Australian music mag that already exists.

Luckily, one just came on the market. As The Music reports, flagship Aussie music magazine Rhythms is currently up for grabs, with owner-publishers Martin Jones and Verity Bee announcing this week that they are selling the business.

The pair will be stepping down from their post, putting an end to a ten-year stint that began when they took over from original owner Brian Wise, who founded the blues and roots-focused publication back in 1992.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a genuine Australian institution,” Jones told The Music. “Rhythms remains such an important voice for so many great musicians, most of whom are ignored by mainstream media.”

Jones also commented on the changes the magazine has experienced in the digital age, saying, “Our primary source of advertising has shifted from recorded music to live music, which is stronger than ever.”

“We’ve also had to keep on top of digital and online publishing, and have established one of the best digital magazines for iPad anywhere. It’s an exciting time for anyone with a vision of the future for publishing and the music industry.”

“Things are changing, undoubtedly, but with change comes opportunity.” If you’re interested in enquiring further about Rhythms and maybe making an offer, you can contact Jones by email at [email protected] or by phone on 0417 834 017.
