As we recently reported, November is Ausmusic Month over at triple j, which sees our national youth broadcaster celebrating all things Australian music with special programming and the annual and highly coveted J Awards.

However, as The Music Network reports, this year the J is doing something different and big. Every Saturday this month, triple j will be bringing homegrown Australian music to the world with the help of Apple’s Beats 1 radio.

As readers will be aware, Beats 1, which launched back in June as part of Apple Music, broadcasts worldwide and has featured shows from the likes of Josh Homme, Drake, and St Vincent, as well as regular broadcaster Zane Lowe.

triple j have announced they will be joining that lineup of all-star guests and DJs every Saturday in November, broadcasting from 11am Los Angeles time (which is 6am Sunday morning AEDST, so make sure to set your alarm).

According to The Music Network, longtime triple j hosts Zan Rowe and Dom Alessio will take over the digital station and treat its global audience to an all-Australian playlist, sharing the gift of Aussie music with the world.

Beats 1 has been giving serious love to Australian artists ever since it launched, regularly featuring music from the likes of Tame Impala, Courtney Barnett, and even newcomers like Slum Sociable, all of whom are triple j favs.

Among the broadcaster’s other Ausmusic Month celebrations are of course the annual J Awards, the nominees for which were recently announced as Alison Wonderland, Courtney Barnett, Tame Impala, Parkway Drive, and more.

There’s also the annual triple j Unearthed Artist Of The Year, Double J Artist Of The Year, and Australian Music Video Of The Year awards. This year’s J Award winners will be announced live on triple j from 4.30pm Thursday, 19th November.

The entire triple j network will be celebrating Ausmusic Month, with Aussie specials across triple j’s programming. Meanwhile, Double J and triple j will be simulcasting all-Australian J Files on Tame Impala, Missy Higgins, Regurgitator, and more.
