Aussie rock fans rejoice, one of the most successful and respected bands in Australian music history are reuniting this weekend for a very special one-off performance that comes right as fans celebrate the fifth anniversary of their final show.

Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton is set to launch his new solo album, Splinters, at The Triffid in Brisbane this Saturday, 7th November and has revealed an all-star guest list, including former bandmates Ian Haug and John Collins.

According to a post to the official Triffid Facebook page, “word on the street is Bernard is back in town”. For those playing catch-up, that’s Bernard Fanning, meaning four fifths of the band will be in the room on Saturday.

Industry sources have told Tone Deaf that Fanning will indeed be in town and intends to take the stage with his former bandmates. What’s more, sources tell us the four reunited members will be playing Powderfinger material.

However, sources have also indicated that Powderfinger drummer Jon Coghill will not be making an appearance. Other guests will include Jet’s Mark Wilson, Sahara Beck, Karl S Williams, Mia Wray, Annie Peterson, and Marty Brown.

The performance will be part of The Triffid’s first birthday celebrations, which includes 14 days’ worth of shows from a raft of awesome acts, including The Vaccines, Future Islands, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Robert Forster, You Am I, and more.
