One of the most famous scenes in the rock and roll movie classic This Is Spinal Tap comes when the band are performing inside of special pods and one of them just doesn’t seem to want to open.

Foo Fighters experienced a similarly haphazard situation during a recent gig in Amsterdam. As Loudwire reports, the opening of the band’s set was halted by a giant curtain that wouldn’t fall correctly.

After an extended instrumental intro from the band, during which Dave Grohl is heard amping up the crowd, the opening notes of ‘Everlong’ can be heard, despite the fact that the monolithic curtain still hasn’t dropped.

When it finally does, the middle section only falls halfway, enclosing Grohl, who, ever the consummate professional, keeps playing and even makes it all the way through the song’s first verse before cutting the performance.

As stagehands scramble to rectify the situation, Grohl addresses the crowd with one of his classic rock and roll life lessons, saying, “Sometimes it’s the fucked up things that make you remember the show for the rest of your life.”

Footage of the unfortunate mishap, which readers can check out below, is racking up serious views on YouTube and it’s not hard to see why, it’s actually hilarious.
