Tame Impala are currently zig-zagging their way across the country, playing to sold-out crowds as they promote their latest album, Currents, but they somehow found the time to stop by the triple j studios to perform a cover for Like A Version.

To celebrate Ausmusic Month, Kevin Parker and co were tasked with covering a fellow Australian artist and they decided to go with our very own impossible princess, Kylie Minogue, performing a rendition of her 1994 hit ‘Confide In Me’.

While it might seem an odd choice for one of Australia’s best-known psych rock bands to take on Kylie, Parker has long professed a love for “cheesy pop songs”, proudly telling Vogue in 2012 that he owns a copy of The Best of Kylie Minogue.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we just can’t get over the level of talent that’s been on display during this year’s Like A Version series, especially from homegrown bands and artists like Dorsal Fins, with their cover of Kate Ceberano’s ‘Pash’ and Art Vs Science’s recent rework of the Metallica classic ‘Enter Sandman’.

We’ve also seen some covers bound for this year’s Hottest 100, an alt-rock mash-up that blew us away, some ambitious takes on mega-tunes by the likes of FKA twigs, Jamie xx, and Fatboy Slim, as well as a raw take on a homegrown anthem.
