Hot on the heels of a string of triumphant dates across North America, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals have announced they will return to Australian shores next year for this first Australian headline tour since 2007.

The band were famously reunited at Byron Bay Bluesfest earlier this year after a long absence and they wasted no time in getting back to what they do best. They’ll be kicking their Aussie tour off at the Sydney Opera House this March.

Ben Harper began working with The Innocent Criminals (percussionist Leon Mobley, bassist Juan Nelson, drummer Oliver Charles, keyboardist Jason Yates and guitarist Michael Ward) in 1993, before the collaboration went on hiatus in 2008.

With countless successful tours under their belts and a string of acclaimed studio albums, including Fight For Your Mind, The Will to Live, Burn to Shine, Diamonds on the Inside, seeing the band perform is the definitive Harper experience.

What’s more Australian audiences will be among the first to hear songs from the band’s eagerly anticipated new album, Call It What It Is. The record is due for release in April next year, the band’s first in eight years.
