The organisers of the much-loved West Coast Blues N Roots festival have announced the event will be taking a year off in 2016 and instead return the following year with a radical rebrand under the name Freo’s Blues Roots & Beyond.

The 12th annual West Coast Blues N Roots festival took place back in March and organisers are looking to keep the festival running for many years to come, with the changes they’ve made the biggest since the event launched in 2003.

In addition to a catchy new moniker, the inaugural Freo’s Blues Roots & Beyond in 2017 will see the popular event undertaking a major facelift, including a new and more open space located right in the heart of Fremantle.

There will also be the introduction of pass-outs, so punters will be able to come and go as they please amongst the festival grounds and wider city area, giving them a chance to enjoy some of the artists booked at intimate local venues.

As for that all-important lineup, organisers are keeping silent on that front but we’re sure fans can expect more quality blues, roots, folk, and rock, with this year’s lineup featuring the John Butler Trio, Charles Bradley, Paolo Nutini, and more.
