At the official ARIA Awards Nominations Event held last month, Courtney Barnett managed to pick up her first ARIA Award of the year, taking home the award for Best Cover Art for her debut LP, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit.

The understated line drawing of a chair, along with the rest of Barnett’s artwork, has become emblematic of the Australian singer-songwriter’s stripped-back style of confessional rock and roll, free of pretence and bells and whistles.

Barnett took “understated” to a whole new level with the artwork for her single ‘Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party’, which was simply the song title scrawled in black ink against a blank, white background.

The artwork actually proved remarkably effective and was even used as part of a widely circulated viral campaign to promote the single, which culminated in a street performance of the song for one of Barnett’s music videos.

Now, Melbourne punks The Bennies have capitalised on Barnett’s international artistic clout with their latest line of merchandise and promotional artwork. They’ve unveiled a tongue-in-cheek satire on the ‘Nobody Really Cares…’ artwork.

The Bennies’ remix of Barnett’s artwork has red marker cheekily crossing out select words so as to make the song title cum slogan read “The Bennies Really Care If You Don’t Go To The Party”, because of course they do.

Having owned 2014 with series of unstoppable singles, a killer album, and some lauded live performances, The Bennies have continued to rage right into 2015 and the new year is already looking very promising.

Picking up where last year’s Heavy Disco left off, ‘Party Machine’ is the latest number from the Melbourne punk outfit and it serves as the first taste of their forthcoming new album set to drop in March 2016.

The band will be promoting the single by doing what they do best and zig-zagging across the country on their latest tour, which is set to kick off in Hobart this month and finish in Darwin with 16 dates in between. Check below for details.
